A Slice of Riviera Glamour
Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes is the epitome of French Riviera luxury. From the moment I arrived at this iconic resort, perched on the Mediterranean coast, I was swept into a world of elegance and charm. The lush gardens and azure sea views were straight out of a postcard.
Days here were a mix of relaxation and adventure. I lounged by the infinity pool, sipping rosé and soaking in the sun, then ventured out for a kayak tour along the Cap d'Antibes. Paddling through crystal waters with the coastline in view was pure bliss. The resort's private beach was perfect for lazy afternoons, with soft sands and attentive service.
Dining at Eden-Roc Restaurant was a foodie's dream. The bouillabaisse, brimming with fresh seafood, was a flavor explosion, and the lavender-infused crème brûlée was divine. I also loved the casual grill by the pool, where grilled octopus paired with a chilled Sancerre hit all the right spots.
The spa's rose petal massage was a highlight, leaving me relaxed and glowing. Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc is where dreams meet reality, offering a perfect blend of glamour and adventure on the French Riviera.
A Storied Riviera Icon
Opened in 1870 as a writer’s retreat, Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc became a haven for artists like Picasso and Hemingway. By the 1920s, it was the playground of the elite, hosting the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, who drew inspiration for Tender is the Night here. Its grandeur grew under the Oetker family, and today, it’s a symbol of Riviera opulence. Sipping a cocktail by the pool, I felt the echoes of its glamorous past.
More Riviera Adventures
The hotel’s offerings go beyond lounging. I tried sailing lessons, gliding over the Mediterranean with the wind in my hair. Snorkeling revealed vibrant underwater life near the Cap. For land lovers, guided garden tours showcased rare plants, and tennis on sea-view courts was a fun challenge. Evening jazz nights at the Bellini Bar added a soulful vibe—there’s always something to spark a solo traveler’s curiosity.
Exploring the Côte d’Azur
Antibes itself is a gem, with its old town’s narrow streets and Picasso Museum, housed in the Château Grimaldi. I strolled through Juan-les-Pins for vibrant nightlife and visited Nice’s Promenade des Anglais for iconic views. Cannes, with its film festival fame, was a short drive, and the hilltop village of Mougins offered quaint charm and art galleries. Each spot added sparkle to my Riviera journey.
When to Visit Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc
Spring (April to May) and early autumn (September to October) offer perfect weather—sunny but not scorching—and fewer crowds for a relaxed stay. Summer (June to August) is peak season, buzzing with energy but pricier and busier. I’d avoid winter (November to March) as the hotel often closes for maintenance. May’s Cannes Film Festival nearby adds glamour but books up fast!
- Tip: Book a sunset cocktail at the Bellini Bar for stunning views.
- Don't Miss: The tennis courts for a fun match with sea views.
